Redact Sensitive Information in Images on Android

A useful image can still contain details that should not be shared. Deliberate redaction helps keep the needed context while covering sensitive visual information.

What may need redaction

Common examples include names, addresses, account or reference numbers, contact details, signatures, identification documents, screens and vehicle plates. Background details deserve the same attention as the main subject.

Cover information completely

Choose a cover that fully blocks the sensitive area and remains clear after the image is resized. Inspect edges, reflections and repeated information elsewhere in the frame.

Combine visible and hidden checks

Redacting visible details does not remove photo metadata. Likewise, metadata removal does not hide visible text or faces. Use both checks when the situation requires them.
