Subscription Backup and Export for Android

Subscription backup and export solve different needs. A Seabil backup preserves records for restoration; CSV gives you a readable copy for a spreadsheet. Lifetime includes both tools, with the timing and storage location under your control.

Choose a backup when you need to restore Seabil

Before changing phones, reinstalling, resetting a device or clearing app data, create a password-protected encrypted backup. Keep a separate copy you can still reach if the original phone becomes unavailable.

Keep the password safely and separately from the phone you are replacing. Seabil cannot recover a forgotten backup password. Local-first tracking does not automatically create a cloud copy of your records.

Review your records after restoring

On the destination device, use Seabil’s restore workflow and choose carefully between replacing existing records and merging them. Read the choices shown in the app before proceeding.

Check the restored services, dates and reminder settings before depending on the overview again. The practical guide covers restoration alongside the rest of the setup.

How to Use Seabil →

Use CSV for portability and spreadsheets

A CSV export lets you read and work with subscription records outside Seabil, for example when reviewing recurring expenses in a spreadsheet.

CSV is unencrypted and cannot restore Seabil. Protect the file when storing or sharing it, and remove copies you no longer need. Choose a backup when your aim is to bring records back into the app.

Make a small backup habit part of record-keeping

Create a fresh backup after important changes, and check that you can find the copy and remember its password before a device change. A backup from before your latest edits cannot include them.

After restoring, review upcoming renewal dates and test notifications on the new phone. Android permissions and battery restrictions can differ between devices.

Distinguish restoring purchases from restoring records

Restore purchase uses the Google Play account that bought Lifetime to restore feature access. It does not bring back subscription records; restoring those requires your own backup.

Free supports a small subscription list, while encrypted backup, restore and CSV export are Lifetime tools. Check the existing comparison for the access model and use the tracker guide to keep the recovered overview organized.
